My thesis is that online Halo creates a "psycho-personal alter ego" for whosoever plays it in the "addicts" range (which is 2001-present on an average of an hour/day). People who "talk shit" are really experiencing a type of situational amnesia where they say things they wouldn't normally say, especially if they were talking with that other individual(s) in person. That is why a LAN (local area network) is the only cure to these "alter egos". The situational amnesia is nonexistent when such persons play in person.

Wow, I'm full of shit! Really though (and I'm guilty as well) that's what it seems like. Once you meet someone in person a lot of these boundaries just disappear.
