View Full Version : 1v1 Compilation Map Pack Testing

I am going to put together a little 1v1 compilation map pack. It is called a compilation because I got the maps from both default Halo 1, Halo: CE, and Hizlo's HaloMaps V2 map pack.

Before I delve into it to far (removing rockets, changing power-ups, and etc.) I want to see if anyone actually likes the maps for 1v1.

Edit: Use the custom weapon set (not generic like MLG) for:

Saber Arena to spawn with lightsabers
Airball Mod to spawn with paintball guns
FY Iceworld to spawn with pistol as primary.
Small Arena to spawn with 3 weapons (?)

I like the inclusion of the weapon mods(saber, paintball) and Sniper training. Just random fun. But alot of the 1v1 maps are too open to spawn killing. Also the flow on the maps seems pretty simple for some of them. (how do you flank and so forth)

What program did you use to port Halo Custom Maps onto the Xbox?

I use Arsenic 2.0 to convert the maps. You just have to import the map, then you click on levels (on the left) Then look for the map you imported (it may be under test). After opening the map click on the .scenario file. Then after that loads go to file, export as a xbox map, then compressed map.

I am going to take out Tower and Small Arena. I understand the problem (I need some midsized asymmetrical maps like Prisoner) it is just that the PC community favors big maps like Hugeass, or Blood gulch. They also seem to like one room arena maps.

Prisoner-like maps just aren't available. Trust me I went though all the maps in the Small, and Medium section. Tested like a 100 of them. Even looked for maps under key words for ones that weren't listed by size.

I think my last hope is trying to find a lockout map, and trying to restore the default hud, and weapon tags from whatever H2 mod they are using.

Thanks for the help. I tried using the Arsenic v1.0.1.0( or something) version and I can't get it to work on my computer. I've tried installing all the .net frameworks too. Where can I find Arsenic 2.0?

Yah on the second part. Try some old goldeneye maps, and some h2 maps like santuary. (the mlg ones). I'd definitely appreciate those if you could find them.

I had to install this (http://slimdx.org/download_nov08.php) to get Arsenic to work (it's not in the tut). Anyway, you have to open Arsenic and click on help and force update to get it to update.

I will try a Goldeneye map. Never thought of that.

Damn it, I wish i would have seen that yesterday. I went to a LAN last night, could have tested Middy.

This version of Middy is just a beta the guy never finished. It is smaller, the jump to bubble is too high, and there is no airlifts (he uses teleportors instead), and there is no sword thing hanging from the ceiling.

Even with all those probs it is still fun

Edit: I am making another pack with Halo 2 maps. Sadly I can't find a Lockout that converts correctly which is too bad because it was one of MLG's main maps.

Getting to P3 is way too hard and there are powerups under the bases. The weapon spawns are messed up too (FRC top mid?). Still really cool.

I'd love a Halo 2 map pack for H1. Lockout was supposedly a leftover H1 map, so it should work at least decent as a H1 map.

EDIT: Just played some games on Midship: The windows have no grenade collision and it's really annoying. The 'wind' on the map needs to be turned on. (flags poles have no flags). Some of the spawns are terrible (facing glass in the bases).

I'm not sure what you are capable of changing, but my suggestions are to remove the OS and Camo (replace them with health packs?), make the weapons spawns like H2 (pistols in BR spawns), and make the respawn points like Heretic from H3.

EDIT2: Top mid is closer to red base than it is to blue base and it's missing the jump up boxes in front of the bases (would they even work if they were there?)

I hope to test these soon but right now I've got like 7 different versions of halo 1 maps packs on my box that I'm going through. Is there a way to combine Insidious and Pwnytar's maps, or can that not be done if they have the same map name?

Is the limit still 13 maps per pack, or has someone found a way to add over 13? Also, where is the data stored that determines what the map name and picture looks like on the map selection screen? Is an image file/screen shot taken of the map, loaded, and then compiled onto default.xbe or what?

Is Arsenic used to create the map name and image underneath it or is it another program? I'd like to take 13 of my favorite maps and put them into one single game, so that I don't have to keep clearing the damn cache every time I want to play a different map from another pack! Would insidious or pwnytar mind if this was done? I'm guessing you need to be able to use the same UI?

Downrush, Uplift and Improve derelect = 3

Darke, if you added 2 of your best maps to those 11, it would make for one hell of a map pack without the need to clear cache all the time.

Halo 2 brian's pack is a double map pack. It launches insids, and on the main menu there is on an option to launch PWN's.
