Seriously this pisses me off. Perfect Dark n64 multiplayer on xbox live arcade. Online multiplayer for this old great classic game. Im sure its awesome and i might get it too. Its making me mad because they NEED to do this for H1. God it would be too good of a game for people to handle. What you think?

i know SERIOUSLY WTF!! i know sum ppl that would give a body part to have h1 on XBL...that's just weird and stupid. BUT that shit would change life on planet earth as we know it forever. the public would never be able to handle it...there would be riots in the streets of every city n town and ppl would stop makin babies becuz they would be playin h1 on XBL non stop.

when you think "changing an old classic game" usually you think its going to ruin the game but if its something just like adding multiplayer and not changing the actual game... it would be fuckin slick. Its not like the game isnt awesome now its just SOOOOOOOO much more people would play just for the pure fact its convient. It wouldnt make less lans either i dont think because TONS of people lan h3 and thats on live.

There problem is the way the weapons work. They're connection based, that's why XBC is so wonky at times. If Microsoft were to add XBL options they would have to change the way the weapons work and that would make a completely different game altogther.

So when Gearbox ported Halo to the PC it was a completely different game altogther?

what should of been done a long time ago was put it on xbl with dedicated servers and have people host servers all over country ny, ohio, florida texas cali or wherever. with dedicated servers u got no host advantage and connect to servers wherever u want in 20-30 ping. fuc touching the netcode they would add all types of auto aim n crap. id take xbc 20 ping lag over the trash h2 and h3 net code have any day where your shots just disappear.

I hope it happens one day, from what I understand the game as is wouldn't work very well and would need a new netcode(this would probably change the way the weapons work) and while dedicated servers at 20 ping would be the shit it's just not practical. I still remain hopeful though that it will happen someday and they magically figure out a way to make it work(there are a lot of networking guys out there much much much much better at that stuff than me.

I think after the heat of Reach is off it's a strong possibility, maybe even on the next gen console.

I see MS/bungie handling this in a few ways, most of which would piss all of us off.

1) Make the game compatible on xbox live/xbl arcade but do stupid shit like add new weapons, get rid of fall damage, add the sword (anything they can do to possibly nub up the game)

2) [what they are currently doing] not do shit and laugh at us ice skating on XBC

3) Re-release the game for 360, who here wouldn't drop 60 bucks to play H1 on xbl? Not to mention MS could make a killing doing this...

but do stupid shit like add new weapons, get rid of fall damage, add the sword (anything they can do to possibly nub up the game)

4) Re-release the game for 360 as untouched as possible from the original :D

Who knows, if we get this community to gain enough momentum perhaps we could force Microsoft's hand a bit when all our Xbox's start breaking...

First off, *disclaimer*, I have very limited experience playing Halo PC, and haven't played it for at least a year or two.

From what I remember, they got it *close* but not exact. The major difference I saw was related to how your own movement affected your shots. What I mean is, on Halo Xbox, when you are strafing in a direction, you will have to adjust your aim in the opposite direction even if your opponent is standing still. On Halo PC, you did not have to do this extra adjustment, and I found it very difficult to get used to since I already had several years of XBC experience.

Another difference which would be much easier for developers to change is the instant display of shots fired. This makes aiming in Halo PC a bit like guesswork for a new player, since your bullets appear to impact the wall instantly, when in fact they impact a short time later. Shots in Halo Xbox show up only after the host confirms their hit location, so all the shots you see on your screen are actually hitting exactly where you see them. I find this to be much more helpful for players trying to get used to XBC-style play, because you can quickly see exactly how far you need to lead your shots.

Again, Bungie has said multiple times that it is not as easy as "adding Xbox Live." They have said they would essentially need to rewrite major portions of the game engine, which has a very high likelihood of causing minor (or major) changes which many oldtimers would find "unacceptable."
