UPDATED JANUARY 4TH, 2009
THERE IS NO CHARGE TO PLAY IN THE LAN. JUST SHOW UP AND PLAY!
Also, we ARE GOING TO HAVE Insideous's maps (which are in "beta" version)! and Pwnytar's maps!
We have been absent from the site trying to set this up for our faithful members. But, we are back and bring good news. PWN will be at MLG Orlando and we will be throwing a LAN for those who make the trip. So enough with the announcements lets get to the details.
DETAILS
1) Location and Time
We wanted to be as close to the Gaylord as possible and the location we found was only 1 mile away! Thats about a minute by car!
Here is the info:
CELEBRATION SUITES AT OLD TOWN
5820 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial HWY
Kissimmee, FL 34746
Phone Number: (407) 396-7906
The Lan will be on:
Friday, Jan 8th - 8pm to 2am
&
Saturday, Jan 9th - 8pm to 2am
Directions to the hotel from the Gaylord Palms:
1. Go East on "W Osceola PKWY" to "International Dr S"
2. Turn right on "International DR S"
3. Turn left onto US-192/W Irlo Bronson Memorial HWY
4. Turn right at first light "Happy Trail"
5. Make first left and arrive at destination.
TOTAL TRIP DISTANCE = 1 mile from Gaylord Palms
2) Things at the LAN
We will more than likely have around 12-16 TV's with all Original Boxes. We are in the works of having projectors as well. We are going to have some T-Shirts to give away, but unfortunately we had complications with our Hang Em shirts and our vendor so they wont be available at Orlando. There will be raffles and some other things we have planned for our faithful in attendance.
3) LG 22LH20 LCD 22" TV's.
The first thing we did was realize that TV's are a big part of a LAN. It is hard now a days to find Tube TV's much less travel with them so the obvious decision was that we had to find a LCD that could fit out standards. These standards were broken down into 3 main categories.
1. Lag
2. Picture Quality
3. Sound
We got to work and went out on a buying fiesta and bought every 19-22" LCD we could find. Here is a short list of some:
Samsung LN19B360
Samsung LN19B650
LG 22LH20
Philips 22PFL3504D/F7
Sharp LC19SV27UT
Sharp LC19D45U
Toshiba 19AV600U
Dynex DX-L19-10A
Insignia NS19E430A10
Insignia NSL22X10A
Vizio VA19L
Most of these are the manufacturers top of the line models for their respective sizes.
There were some problems with lag on the earlier batches of TV's we tested but we did find a few that had a minimal amount. Unfortunately, the picture and sound were horrible on these. We purchased more and pushed through long hours of testing then finally came to the LG 22LH20. This was what we were looking for. Great picture, great sound, and most importantly, this was one of the ones we tested that had good response. In conclusion to our tests, we have chosen the 22LH20 to play on in Orlando.
4) Halo 1
We went out and got Original Xbox's, controllers, component cables, ethernet cables, routers, extension cords, other things for our LAN. We wanted to have the new maps but that is currently questionable. More info as it comes through. Modern Warfare has been dropped from the Lan and it will now be all Halo 1.
5) PWN Staff at the LAN and MLG
A good amount of our staff will be attending Orlando. We will be walking around the MLG floor most of the early day then heading off to set up the LAN in the latter part. I will be there as well as our graphics lead, Agent31. Bates and a couple more of our mods will be there as well. We would love to get to know our community a little better so look for us there.
6) We want to know who is going.
Let us know if your going so we can look for you and possibly give you a free tshirt??:D
