If anyone is interested in hard modding, I know a bit about that. I have installed quite a few chips in xboxes. I use the DuoX2 chips. They are cheap and they do pretty much everything you need a chip to do. It makes changing out the hard drive fairly easy. I usually like to go with 80 gig or bigger HD, so there is room for some games. I also like to use The "Bling Bling" version of xbox media center. It has a nice controls and allows you to speed up your fan to keep your xbox cooler. DVD2XBOX allows you to save games on your HD as well as manage them.

So if you have any questions or need help, feel free to ask.

As for soft modding, you can use the original Mechassault too. I have both, I just prefer the hard mod way. Hard modding can also save an xbox that won't boot, because the chip replaces the original bios.

Idk about the maps.

I like hardmodding better too but in the end its pretty much the same thing. This tut was made for people just wanting to play the new maps. Duo x2's were so popular back in the day. I had X2 and X3. Upgrading ram on an xbox1 FTW.

Heres some of my old XBOX's

Persp3ctiv E: and the dashboard wouldnt install
Persp3ctiv E: so im like i remember a thread on pwnall
Persp3ctiv E: maybe that guy knew his shit
Persp3ctiv E: and sure enough it was easy as fuck
c0rPcE: yea like alot of people skip steps
c0rPcE: i tried to make it simple as shit
Persp3ctiv E: he was making it a pain just to get the file
Persp3ctiv E: like ltools
Persp3ctiv E: heslike you gotta get mirc and shit
Persp3ctiv E: im like why not just upload it
c0rPcE: its illegal
c0rPcE: lol

c0rPcE: those 2 linux files are illegal
c0rPcE: not to like have
c0rPcE: but to post or something
Persp3ctiv E: yea
Persp3ctiv E: putting my roms on
Persp3ctiv E: dude
Persp3ctiv E: what is a trainer
Persp3ctiv E: last question for the night ha
c0rPcE: its kinda like an easy way to mod if u enable a trainer u could have a trainer for like say infinite ammo on a shooter
Persp3ctiv E: ah i see
Persp3ctiv E: yea nothing i care about
c0rPcE: yea
Persp3ctiv E: ima post this convo on pwnall

ebay or amazon for action replay - i got splinter cell for like a dollar on amazon as well. action replay is probably cheaper on ebay, but i got a new copy just for convenience on amazon. soft modding is easy and well worth it.

Installing a soft mod is pretty easily once you collect all the "parts" you need. Installing a larger HD on a soft modded box is a little harder. I finally got around to learning how to do it the other day. Not nearly as easy or nice as installing one on a hard modded box.

I realised one day that you don't need "Action Replay" if you have a modded xbox already. You just need a memory card, the game save, and either Mechassault or Splinter Cell.

Maybe we could put together some kind of "Kit" that would have the memory card and game in it that could be sent to different members so they could softmod their xboxes. They in turn would send it to the next guy and the next guy after that and finally back to the original supplier of the "Kit" after they were done with it. We had something like that back at H2S.com so that everyone that wanted Halo 2 CE could get it.

That seems like a great idea. I know I would appreciate it very much. If we could get that going that would be great.

Yeah it was great that Infesord did all that, buying all those memery cards and copies of splinter cell and mailing them to 8 or 10 people.
But then we had a moron like Emnity who sold thier soft-modded xbox to buy 1 or 2 360 games.

Ok im going to explain this as quick and shitty as possible. You dont need ANYTHING (besides a pc and xbox) to mod your xbox this way.

I havent made a tutorial because i need an un modded xbox to show EXACTLY how to do it and i dont feel like bringing my xbox back to 100% stock.

#1 Take xbox's top off. (take your top off)

#2 Remove the IDE cable from your xbox's DISK drive and THEN turn your xbox on

#3 Once you have done that you will get error 12 on screen.

#4 Now unplug the IDE cable from your HARDDRIVE

#5 Turn on your computer (pc) and let it load fully.

#6 While on take the IDE cable from your DISK DRIVE on your pc, and plug it into your xbox's HARDDIVE.

PC's DISK DRIVE's cable in xbox's HARDDRIVE.

#7 Open your computers device manager and click the name of your computer. (very top)

#8 Get xplorer 360 and open up your xbox's HDD in it.

MANUALLY INSTALL EVOX DASHBOARD. is the last step. If any of you plan on going through with this LET ME KNOW. Ill walk you through it. I take no creit for this tutorial. Ive just used it before it was on se7ensins.

this is an excellent tutorial corpse. it's perfectly explained so that even a complete computer noob can mod their box. i did mine way back in 2003 with the mechassault audio hack, but the xbox died a few years back and i haven't been in touch with the modding scene since. it's amazing how far xbox modding has come. it was very primitive back then and the only things people really did was release ppf files to patch map caches with.

you did forget 1 small detail however (if you've played halo 2 on live or any other live game then ignore this). in order to install the evolution x dashboard, you need to update your xbox's current dashboard if it's an older one. all you need to do is have the xbox connected to the internet (as if you're playing XBC) and throw in halo 2. when prompted, create a profile if there isn't one and when you see the option to "register new account", select that. the xbox will go back to the dash and update the dashboard (you'll get the xbox live tab on the main dash). that's it, you don't even need to make an account. this is really only for those who are modding a stock xbox or have never played on xbox live with the orginal xbox.

Yea to be honest i didnt know that because using these exact files here ive modded xbox's that are so old they dont even have the "xbox live" option in the dashboard just the three original things it said. Who knows but either way thanks because what you say could be true.

found a very useful tool for clearing the cache from your xbox, instead of doing it via FTP from the PC. this is very useful for those who switch between map packs often and will come in handy when the new maps are released.

open up your FTP program and find your evox.ini file. (E/dashboard/evox.ini) right click and select edit (i recommend backing it up on your PC first just in case).

locate [Menu]. underneath that, you should see something like this:

Section "Root"
{
Item "Launch DVD",ID_Launch_DVD
Section "Games on HD"

change it to this. the bold part is what's new:

Section "Root"
{
Item "Clear Cache XYZ",@210
Item "Launch DVD",ID_Launch_DVD
Section "Games on HD"

then locate [Action_10]. underneath that, you should see something like this:

LogFile = "f:\lock.log"
Info "This function will lock your XBOX Harddisk"
Warning "You will now lock your XBOX harddisk and will be able"
Warning "to boot from an original XBOX bios"
#
hddlockenable

copy and paste the following into its place. you should be overwriting everything under [Action_10]

Info "Clear Cache by Formating X,Y,Z"
Warning "This will format X"
Warning "This will format Y"
Warning "This will format Z"
Format X:
Format Y:
Format Z:
LogFile = "f:\lock.log"
Warning "Locking Xbox Harddisk"
#
hddlockenable

save the evox.ini file and reboot the xbox. you should notice a new "Clear Cache XYZ" above "Launch DVD". if any of this was too confusing, i can send you my evox.ini file and you can just overwrite your old one.

I have a question about the two xbox saves that you have in your "stuffyouneed.rar" You were saying in the video that you would probably need a 512 MB card, but the files only combine to be 4.92 MB? The Splinter Cell profile is 6 kb and the Install Linux is 4.91 MB. Are these the correct saves?

Also what do you even need the UMP_v5_setup for?

I figured out how to make XBMC clear the cache every time it starts. Now you don't even have to do the shortcut. All you need to do when switching between versions of Halo is restart your xbox.

Here's how you do it (there are two main steps):

1. Download this file.

http://www.filefront.com/15657475/ClearCache.py

Place this file into a folder named "Clear Cache Script" (No quotes, and word for word) somewhere on your computer. Then FTP that folder to your xbox in this location: Q:\\scripts

2. Download this file.

http://www.filefront.com/15656469/autoexec.py

Do not place this file into a folder. Simply FTP the file to this location (same location as the "Clear Cache Script"): Q:\\scripts

Your xbox will now clear the XYZ Cache whenever XBMC starts.

*Note: If this doesn't work, you may have to do the same thing for the E drive (i.e. Place both the autoexec.py file and the "Clear Cache Script" folder in E:\\scripts).

Does this work for unleash x or evox?

With UnleashX just go into the File Explorer and delete what's in the X, Y, and Z partitions manually.

The memory card Im using won't let me copy files, can anyone guess why? I been trying to ftp the saves over to it. Do I need to extract the saves in that case?

so i think i have everything i need to get the new maps except for splinter cell which is on the way in the mail and the tutorial looks great and easy to follow except for the last part has been removed from youtube so im a little worried that i wont be able to complete the final steps of actually getting the maps on my box and working. Also, is there any way to mod a box just using a torrented download of AR with a regular xbox memory card along with some type of usb adapter cable? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

i only removed it because i felt it confused people. Yea there is ive done it but it involves cutting a usb cable off something (male) then cutting out one usb port and soldering the wires together. Then you need to get the drivers for the xbox 1 controller for pc. Then continue the tutorial. Or you can do the method where you manually install the saves by following the tutorial on how to manually install the dash with nothing except an xbox and computer. If you got any questions on how to ftp or anything let me know. im usually on skype not aim so heres my skype. h2xcorpse

I decided to make an account just so I could thank Corpse once again, and because I know he doesn't post on MLG very often So thank you Corpse, like many others, I couldn't of done it without you!

The autoexec file for the XBMC cache clear isn't available for down load. Does anybody have it?
