Have you seen them in the game?
I never have, not in the last eight years I've been playing, but I do see messages from them ever so often. I remember the first few times their name showed up. We were trying to figure out "Who are these Guardians and how to they keep killing us?"
I finally set up several VCRs and recorded our LANs. Then when it happened we were able to analyze the tape. Turns out the Guardians are a kind of reward for some seriously dirty fighting. You get killed by the Guardians and your opponent gets no kill. Fun stuff.
